The Games Consoles Voluntary Agreement, VA (also referred to as the Self-Regulatory Initiative, SRI) aims to reduce the environmental impact of games consoles over their life cycle and to achieve energy savings and material efficiency through better design, thus benefiting the environment without compromising console performance and gaming experience.

It is the result of the work carried out by the Signatories of the VA (Microsoft Corporation, Nintendo and Sony) and the UK Government.

The VA sets maximum power limits and auto-power down for different types of mains-powered games consoles placed on the UK market (except those consuming under 20 W, which will be in scope as of 1 January 2022). It also requires signatories to provide additional information on the energy consumption of their consoles and instructions on how to minimise energy consumption.
